Cultural support

For Māori

We are committed to meeting the needs of tangata whenua. We can design a process that respects your needs and recognises te ao Māori.

For example, we can:

  • appoint a culturally competent practitioner or a Māori practitioner
  • arrange a suitable venue, such as a marae
  • discuss tikanga and protocols for the process
  • conduct mediations through te reo Māori
  • adopt a tikanga-based approach to mediation.

For Pacific peoples

We recognise the special relationship of Pasifika peoples to New Zealand. We can provide culturally appropriate options to meet your needs.

For example, we can:

  • appoint a culturally competent practitioner or a Pacific practitioner
  • arrange for family and elder support
  • provide language support services, such as interpreters.
